2008 IGF Entries Listed!

I just noticed from Kotaku that the Independent Games Festival has announced this years game entries. Notably on the list is Schizoid from Torpex Games and Shuggy from Smudged Cat Games! I wonder if there are any other games submitted using XNA Game Studio Express? I also noticed that my friends at Data Realms, LLC with Cortex Command and Last Day of Work with Plant Tycoon are also on the list.  Good luck to all of you in February at GDC!

Update: I don't know how I could have missed it, but Samurai Soul Hunters from Raincity Games is also listed. That's awesome, thanks to SwampThingTom for letting me know!

Cool Article on Adventure Games

I caught this great article across the web today on http://www.bit-tech.net about Adventure Games and thought I would pass it along as something worth reading. The article titled How to write... an Adventure game, talks about writing adventure games not from a development but a story standpoint. I hope someone comes up with a cool adventure game written on XNA Game Studio, that would be awesome to play!

Uh-Oh: Connection Keys that Start With 1's or 0's

While we've already fixed this issue in the upcoming XNA Game Studio 2.0 I wanted to let you know about a small issue we've identified with the XNA Game Launcher when generating a Connection Key.

Simply put, if you're if your generating a Connection Key and it happens to start with the number one or zero (The letter "O" as well), you'll want to re-generate a new Connection Key before entering it into the connection dialog. If you try to use a key that starts with the number one or zero, the key will never be accepted even though you have typed it correctly.

BadKey

Hopefully you don't run into the issue but if you do, all you should need to do is regenerate the key. I'll have more about newly redesigned Connect to Computer Screen in XNA Game Studio 2.0 in a future post.
